Recitals: |
|
Students perform in at least one studio recital per
year. Additionally I am an active member of several
music teaching and performing associations (including
the American Harp Society & the American String Teachers
Association), this provides my students with eligibility
to perform in events such as recitals and competitions
on both the local and national level. |

Teaching Experience: |
|
I previously served as harp instructor on the faculty
of the University of Houston, Moores School of Music,
Preparatory and Continuing Studies Program. I am equally
comfortable teaching children and adults, and I
understand that everyone learns differently and at
different paces. I believe it is never too late to learn
to play an instrument you love. Currently, my teaching
schedule includes teaching my private studio students as
well as appearing upon invitation as a guest clinician
in the public schools. |

|
Performance Experience: |
|
I actively perform as a freelance harpist in the
Austin area and I am versatile in classical, sacred and
popular music styles. As a soloist, my experience
includes solo recitals, weddings, parties, and other
events. An avid chamber musician, I am a founding member
of the Breve Duo a flute and harp ensemble as well as
the harpist in residence for Audio Inversions a
contemporary chamber music concert series. As an
orchestral harpist I have appeared with many symphonies
throughout Texas, most recently performing as the
principal harpist for the Waco Symphony Orchestra for
the 2005-2006 season. |

Education: |
|
I began my musical studies with Suzuki piano lessons at the age of
five, and then added harp lessons at the age of twelve. I have
been trained in the Salzedo method of harp technique by several
wonderful harp teachers. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Harp
Performance from the University of Texas at Austin where I studied
with Gayle Barrington. Recently I completed my Master of Music in
Harp Performance & Pedagogy from the University of Houston, Moores
School of Music where I studied with Houston Symphony harpist
Paula Page. Additionally, I am an alumnus of the Salzedo School in
Camden, Maine where I studied upon invitation with Alice Chalifoux. |

Quote: |
|
I teach my students with their individual goals in mind. I try to
help each of my students achieve a balance between learning the
technique and skills necessary to be able to perform the pieces
they want to learn, while at the same time never losing sight of
the ultimate goal: to have fun making music. |
