Teaching Experience:

Teaching is an important part of my career as a professional harpist. Sharing my love and passion for the harp as well as my musical knowledge, is a source of great enjoyment for me. Seeing a student progress is my greatest reward. Over the years, I have taught students as young as 3 years of age, as well as older adult beginners. I have also taught harp lessons, piano lessons and classes, and theory classes to at-risk youth in the Humboldt Park and Lathrop Homes area of Chicago.

Performance Experience:

While in Toronto, I had the distinct honor of playing for HRH Queen Elizabeth of England, at the request of Prime Minister Jean Chretien. I have played in many symphony orchestras in Canada and the U.S., under the batons of such legendary musicians as Pierre Boulez, Leon Fleisher, and Peter Oundjian. I received First Prize in the American Harp Society Competition, Toronto, and was awarded highest honors for my graduating recital at the Royal Conservatory. I have performed numerous solo recitals and am currently performing regularly as part of Abellimento Flute & Harp Duo.

Education:

I received a Performance Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto, under the tutelage of Judy Loman. My Bachelor of Music, Performance, studies were split between the University of Toronto, where I studied with Ms. Loman, and the Cleveland Institute of Music, where I studied with Alice Chalifoux. I also attended Miss Chalifoux's summer harp camp in Camden, Maine. I completed three years of high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy as a harp performance major and piano minor, studying with Joan Raeburn Holland.

Quote:

My greatest goal is sharing my music and love for the harp. Teaching is one of the most direct and rewarding methods of accomplishing that goal.

Description & Biography:

Everyone, no matter what age, skill level, or desire, can benefit from playing the harp. Whether your goal is to be a professional harpist, learn self-discipline, improve memory or hand-eye coordination, or simply to have an enjoyable hobby, the harp is the perfect instrument.
